My father turns 82 today. He’s still going strong—he rides his bike three or four days a week, and plenty of young people would struggle to keep up with him.
He’s quite a character! I know I’ll regret it later, but I just can’t seem to find the time to be with him as much as I should right now. Between this damn job and the time I have left for my wife and daughters, I barely have a moment for myself.
I just called him; he knows I’m always thinking of him and Mom—though today, a call is all it’s going to be.
That said, we’re having a family meal on Saturday to celebrate, and damn, are we going to celebrate in style!
- I wish I could do that. I lost both parents in the 80s. (not their 80s)CyBrainX
- Enjoy that! I miss my old manstoplying

- That's great man, maybe you can make it a tradition... maybe for Sunday. I'm jealous of families that do that.canoe
- My plan was to spend Saturdays with my parents... realistically, once a month wouldn't be bad.OBBTKN
- I don't know how you guys do it, but after working a thousand hours, I barely have any time left for my wife and daughters...OBBTKN
- yeah if any of you have the luck to still have your parents, go visit them often. It can happen quick. Lost my mom this year suddenly.HAL9001

"[ ] The story goes like this: Earth is captured by a technocapital singularity as renaissance rationalitization and oceanic navigation lock into commoditization take-off. Logistically accelerating techno-economic interactivity crumbles social order in auto-sophisticating machine runaway. As markets learn to manufacture intelligence, politics modernizes, upgrades paranoia, and tries to get a grip.
The body count climbs through a series of globewars. Emergent Planetary Commercium trashes the Holy Roman Empire, the Napoleonic Continental System, the Second and Third Reich, and the Soviet International, cranking-up world disorder through compressing phases. Deregulation and the state arms-race each other into cyberspace.
By the time soft-engineering slithers out of its box into yours, human security is lurching into crisis. Cloning, lateral genodata transfer, transversal replication, and cyberotics, flood in amongst a relapse onto bacterial sex.
Neo-China arrives from the future.
Hypersynthetic drugs click into digital voodoo.
Retro-disease.
Nanospasm.
[ ] Beyond the Judgement of God. Meltdown: planetary china-syndrome, dissolution of the biosphere into the technosphere, terminal speculative bubble crisis, ultravirus, and revolution stripped of all christian-socialist eschatology (down to its burn-core of crashed security). It is poised to eat your TV, infect your bank account, and hack xenodata from your mitochondria.

Just watched "Disclosure Day" on a flight home from Miami and I have to say, it was not nearly as bad as I thought. I'd seen plenty of damning reviews when it came out, and I have to admit, the story wasn't what I thought it would be - but I liked it. I found it refreshing to have a cast of kind of unknown actors - aside from Emily Blunt - Tons of eye rolls, and chuckles, but (full disclosure) I was entertained.

Right, okay.
It’s really late, I’m half-pissed, but...
In a moment of clarity, after a "conversation" lasting over half an hour with Claude (using its most advanced model), I’ve arrived at the most precise conclusion—its exact definition.
Artificial Idiot!
Someday, if I feel like it, I’ll flesh this idea out properly.
For today—at least as far as I’m concerned—you can all sleep easy.
This synthetic shit is absolutely not "better" than "us."
Sweet dreams!

- Hehe... I was drunk, asked Claude for personal (humanlike) questions, hence my assessment. It’s very useful for my work with web-related tasks, not much more...OBBTKN
