Some of you may remember the old Public Voice project I started on here yonks ago. Well... 12 years on, I've built it. Though it's come along a bit since then.
It's just a bit of fun, but now that I can use AI to help with the database and backend stuff that I couldn't do previously, I've gotten a bit carried away and ended up putting over 200 hours into it.
I've added many of the features discussed in the original thread, plus a few extras.
- Customisable utility column for Updates, Saved and Popular threads
- @mentions, basic markdown, 60-second edit/delete window, notes
- In conversation: the latest posts and discussions as they happen
- In pictures: the latest images from every thread in one grid
- Dark and light themes
- Topics (if/when needed)Coming soon/currently building
- Private messaging
- Chat roomI'm also working on a new addition called Spaces.
Users will essentially be able to create their own Public Voice, open or invite-only, and build their own communities using the Public Voice template. That's still in development, though.
Feel free to sign up and get involved. It'd be great to see some more familiar faces on there.
It's in beta, so far from perfect. Tell me what breaks or what's missing and I'll fix it. I like the idea of this being an open community project, so if anyone wants to get involved, or has any suggestions or ideas for improvements, all are more than welcome.

Cheers everyone. Currently having some database issues so it's loading super slowly right now. Should (hopefully) be resolved soon.

what stack are you using for this?

Looks like qbn overlords removed this thread from the font page... hah! Fair enough.
I have no intention of trying to replace qbn or lure anyone away. Public Voice started as a bit of fun, building the discussion platform I always wanted, and it gradually evolved into a proper project.
It'd be nice to see a little community develop around it, but I'm just as interested in the software itself. I'm actually moving away from a discussion platform as the basis, towards a product built around the 'What are you building?' thread. Stay tuned.
Cheers all
- lol you're now breathing that rarified air shared by Cargo, Behance, and Brett Bash.Continuity

35 qbners signed up! Quite taken by that. Would love to hear how you think I could improve it if you have any suggestions.
And would anyone be interested in using the platform to create their own forum/private discussion space if I implemented the Spaces feature?
