A lil something I wrote a couple weeks ago:
Begging for Change
Scrolls of land unroll and spread
from horizon to horizon as they take
on water, forming valleys, lakes,
mountains on occasion but mostly hills.Some western or eastern edge of the map
off in the haze where line stops and question begins
in the mid-western mind I find
myself drifting over parcels of old waterConfined in and obscured by the glassine
box of memory—but thankful I still have the key
and I still hold out my hat, crown down upon the scroll
begging for some oceanic change of pace.
