    50 years of U2.

I discovered them thanks to a tacky boyfriend my sister had—a huge fan of *The Joshua Tree* (I never really liked him or that album all that much).

That said, *Achtung Baby*... that one blew me away.

It’s a shame; these days, my stomach turns whenever I hear them.

It’s funny how something you loved so much back then can end up being something you absolutely loathe years later.

With lentils, it’s the opposite: I hated them as a kid, but now I adore them. Maybe Bono just ages worse than lentil stew?

    • Achtung lp was my real first time I cared about them - they nailed the that 90s sound and imagery, design, saw them live for that tour, their best imoprophetone
    • I’m the same lol, for some reason, I can’t listen to them now, and I listen to tonnes of 90s stuffprophetone
    • I still love the fly, but...OBBTKN
    • I'm kind of the opposite... I enjoyed Achtung Baby but anything after that was a letdown. Anything Joshua Tree and before still has a place in my heart.PonyBoy
    • I like ‘Zooropa’ the tune still but maybe like a once a year listening lolprophetone
    • POP was still holding its own... but from then on, it was a freefall with no brakes.OBBTKN
    • i was at the achtung baby tour gig ,, with the free connies handout... all the media stuff was kinda good, cant listen to it anymore.. except for the openningneverscared
    • . except for the openning riff from that album for 30 secondsneverscared
    • Totally with you on this. I think it's Bono's arrogance. Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop were my U2 phase. Still listen every now and then. Fuck, they're on now!Ianbolton
    • I don't care not to like them... actually feels trendy to bash Bono these days. Live and let live.canoe
    • ooh bono lives very well... trashing him or not...neverscared
    • Unforgettable Fire - produced by Brian Eno - is an amazing record. Recorded in a castle in Ireland, Eno's fingerprint all over it. Highly enjoyable!stoplying
    • ^They did another album with Eno as Passengers. is great if you dig Eno stuff.futurefood
    • I saw them support Talking Heads in London in 1980 and it was evident to me that they were shite then and to be forever avoided.Gardener
    • Business rockmort_
    • I gotta say though, their popularity and coming from my hometown meant we could all aspire be rock stars and a lot of good music came out of Dublin / Ireland.mort_
    • That may not have without U2 blowing upmort_
    • Read his book and you'll get a better understanding of the band and Bono, they're hardly 'business rock'.canoe
    • ^ Read it as well...stoplying
