    Honestly.

In this phase of crazy inflation and soaring prices—seeing just how nearly impossible it is to save (thank goodness I don't have any expensive vices)... it makes you want to just say "to hell with it" and spend every last cent *right now*.

It’s outrageous; I try to teach my wife and daughters a bit about financial planning for the future, but... the thing is, even *I* don't believe in it anymore.

    • financial planning is for those with tens of millions in the bank who can make 100k a day with slight moves in the market, moves that they are privy to._niko
    • The rest of us may as well take that extra trip with the family or treat ourselves to whatever floats our (leaky) boat._niko
    • We'll all be pet Labradors by the end of the year. YOLO!mort_
    • I don't like dogs, I'm a cat guy ;)OBBTKN

    • The future is an illusion.ideaist
    • Niko that’s insane. Financial planning is for everyone and if you aren’t doing it in some way you are probably fucking yiurself.monospaced

    • Same boat here. Wife and I have been diligent for years (still are) but decided to go on a blow out 3 week Lodon, Portugal, Rome trip in October.capn_ron
    • This money does us no good once I'm cremated. Was trying to make sure we are safe if there is no SS in the future. We will keep saving but have fun too.capn_ron
    • Money has so much importance after you’re dead. Wtf. You want to leave nothing? Wild.monospaced
    • who am I leaving it for? I don't have kids or anyone younger in my family. Let me know what I should do with in while I'm ashes!capn_ron
    • Mono, do we really want nepo babies? kids like Trump's? or even worse, Trustafarians? fuck that, show me a decent rich kid who was born into wealth._niko
    • I'm only kidding or half kidding, but I do believe life is way too short and way too rare to not enjoy it. If given the choice to take whatever little money you_niko
    • ...make and squirrel it away in hopes of not working when you're 70 vs spending it now on experiences and trips and outings with your kids and wife, just_niko
    • ...spending as much time with them, hanging out with them and showing them the world, for me it's a no-brainer. My investment is in them, nurturing them_niko
    • to be amazing, respectful, thoughtful and curious human beings, not handing them a bag of money one day and hoping for the best._niko
    • now having said that I'm also going to give them a bag of money lol but maybe not as big as it could have been but who cares, they certainly don't._niko
    • Passing assets onto kids is a good thing. It’s not nepotism or anything bad at all. What’s with you?monospaced
    • It’s not about being rich. Again financial planning and legacy isn’t for just the ultra wealthy. Wake up, this is what most people do.monospaced
    • It’s not about handing them a bag of money. You’d know this if you were so against even learning. It’s about setting up safeguards for generations.monospaced
    • Educations. Estates. Etc. we all need it and acting like we don’t is either naive or so insanely self centered it’s almost ridiculous.monospaced
    • Mono relax man, I was commenting and exaggerating on the initial post._niko
    • But honest question, how much of he world has the ability or means to invest? How many live day to day or paycheck to paycheck?_niko
    • Are they all selfish?_niko
