At work, I only have access to CoPilot, but I'm using it for rough interactive prototypes to redesign a navigation system that I couldn't possibly prototype with Figma.
At home, I'm working on the first of two applications I prototyped last year, in a basic sense it's a P&L tracker for online sellers that actually provides insights into sales performance, not just raw numbers. I've got a workflow that is basically this:
- Claude Console to do all conversational planning. It's also hooked into ToDoIst (task management app) and wrote instructions for working on two tasks per week across my project timeline. It created a kanban board, all tasks with sub-tasks, and wrote all the prompts for building everything.
- ToDoIst - I barely do anything here. Claude can close out tasks, move them to active and complete columns. Mostly I just go here to copy a task's prompt, and paste it into:
- Claude in VS Code: Pretty much give it the prompt and it does its thing. It initially scaffolded the entire folder structure, all the dependencies, Vite, etc. Most of you probably know I was going full-tilt on AI coding in early 2024 and building art tools that run on my server at home. It's been such an incredible 2+ years watching the models improve, watching my output improve, and going from the early days of copy/pasting multiple sections of code from Chat GPT into VS Code (because it couldn't output large sets of code back all at once back then), to not really needing to do anything except write comprehensive prompts and talk to Claude like a development parter, all in VS Code.
I'm constantly making updates to my two code-based collage tools, tinkering, adding new features, etc. and you can see the result of the past couple of years of that work here: https://www.instagram.com/mg33_a…
